About us
From Our Founder
I started this company sitting on my bed. It was the end of exam season—summer vacation—and I had just finished watching two Bollywood classics back-to-back. I picked up my phone to call my friends when realization dawned upon me: they were all spending time with their cousins, and I was spending time with my laptop.
I had recently turned 14, and being in a family of Indian entrepreneurs, the seed of starting my own business had already been planted in my brain. So much so, it was like a game to convert the slightest of opportunities into a multi-billion-dollar startup idea. I learned bargaining at 7, and by 9, I was already negotiating with local sellers—from Chandan Nagar to Bali. Quite the upgrade!
I learned budgeting at the age of 10 while selling pasta at a society event. I learned to create an explanatory yet concise elevator pitch at a business carnival at 11—and all this was before I even had Financial Markets as an optional subject.
As I sat on my bed imagining 9th grade, the idea of being a child entrepreneur was exciting. I thought I had all the required skills to start a business... I just didn’t know what. Then, the next day, during the last 15 minutes of my 8th final math exam, I realized I had always had a passion for crafting and making things by hand. I loved gifting personalized things. But slowly, the concept of giving heartfelt gifts was being replaced by a "HBD, here’s the link to your Amazon gift card!" And that’s when I knew—I’d found the right idea.
The day I came up with this idea, I remember running to my mom (CEO of The Happiness Institute) and telling her all about it. With a soft smile, she encouraged me to research what kind of things I could put in a hamper, and how to procure their raw materials. That night, I prepared an elevator pitch and explained it to my dad (CEO of Teamlease RegTech) and my sister (Founder of Mezaura Totes—yes, you can buy her totes from this website!). They were all very supportive and gave me a lot of food for thought.
My exams finally ended, and for the next 15 days of vacation, I continued staying up till 1 AM—but this time, I wasn’t binging Netflix. I was researching ingredients and suppliers.
Slowly, the vacations ended and 9th grade began. In the first month, I had no idea how to balance everything—because honestly, managing academic stress, being on the school handball team, and learning the Indian classical dance form Kathak three times a week was more than enough on my plate. And now, I had a business to grow as well.
There are still days when I completely forget about schoolwork (like today—I’ve spent two whole hours working on this!), and others when I don’t work on my business for 2–3 weeks.
Many days, I wanted to quit. I didn’t feel like continuing since the only ones keeping my business going initially were my parents. Every time a guest arrived, they were told the same story about the start of my venture—and then handed a hamper. Obviously, I maintained a record of every hamper my parents bought from me. One day, I realized they owed me somewhere around ₹11,000.
That’s the day I realized—it had only been about two months since I started my business, and I had already broken even. I invested around ₹10,000 and had made ₹11,000! But there was a very odd feeling of failure, knowing that my parents were the only ones who knew about and purchased from my business.
I never felt like it truly fulfilled its purpose of helping last-minute gifters. That’s when I realized I needed an Instagram page for my business. But I wasn’t very consistent in creating new content due to lack of time, and so I didn’t get any orders there either.
That’s when I got the bright idea of starting an all-inclusive e-commerce website—taking this small idea, born during the last 15 minutes of my 8th grade math final, to the next level.
With your support, I can keep this passion of mine going. Even one order contributes toward many happy memories.
